Andrew de Freitas, a Brazil-based artist born in 1986 in Aotearoa (New Zealand) to immigrant parents from Trinidad and Tobago, lives and works in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

His work has been presented in exhibitions in Beijing and at Nassauischer Kunstverein Wiesbaden. Group exhibitions and exhibition programmes have included venues and platforms such as MATTER and SHAPE in Paris; COLLECTIBLE in New York; Archipelago Space by Mendes Wood DM in Georgetown, New York; Hamburger Bahnhof; Sishang Art Museum, Beijing; Galeria Marli Matsumoto, São Paulo; Galerie Parisa Kind, Frankfurt am Main; the Museum of Modern Art, Frankfurt; and École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts de Paris-Cergy, among others.

Freitas works across a broad range of media and production processes, encompassing photography, sculpture, and functional objects with a sculptural sensibility. In 2021, Freitas opened his studio in Rio de Janeiro as an extension of his artistic and construction practices, with the goal of equipping and maintaining a space dedicated to high-quality and distinctive projects. The focus is on bringing greater richness to everyday experiences through objects and creative projects.
