ARTIST - DESIGNER

Desiré Alessi (b. 1992) is an artist and designer based in São Paulo. Working primarily with glass and metal, she creates sculptural yet functional objects that explore the tension between fragility and strength, control and unpredictability, material precision and becoming.

Her practice is grounded in craftsmanship, material experimentation, and architectural rigour, combining a sensitive, process-led approach with a precise understanding of making. Through fusion, casting, polishing, and a continuous investigation into material behaviour, Alessi allows each object to reveal the traces of the gestures that shaped it, capturing moments of transition between physical states, as liquid matter is suspended, altered, and settled into a new state of permanence. Alchemical combinations and shifts in temperature become active agents in the work, shaping surfaces, densities, and forms that cannot be fully predetermined. Air pockets, molten fragments, and subtle variations emerge as records of the process, becoming part of the work’s language.

Her debut collection, Fragmentos Entrópicos, presented during Milan Design Week 2025, investigates the encounter between fused glass and soft metals, creating pieces shaped by both intention and entropy. Alessi holds a Master’s degree in Furniture Design from Politecnico di Milano and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul.
