ANTÍNOO SIDE TABLE

$0.00

The objects presented in this collection, removed from their utilitarian function, are endowed with a unique cognitive ability to express themselves. The choice of the idea of design as a starting point was no accident: stripped of their original objectual place, everything here was screaming and needed to be heard. We promised ourselves that we would not ignore any voice; that marble, wood, and leather are as much agents as the mechanical arm that sculpts and shapes the mythologies, and the bodies that merge through it; another possibility for body and matter to coexist.

In this piece, Ávila and CAVA use a 3D scan of a male model’s appearance to sculpt a nose in marble. However, it’s not just any nose, but one that evokes the classical representation of beauty, inspired by the statue of Antinous, the lover of Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century. This process was made possible by using the only robotic arm available in Latin America.
