Originally designed by Percival Lafer in 1975, the Pony Lounge Chair was reupholstered by Brazilian designer Pedro Ávila in 2024 as part of his Satellite Collection. Influenced by Brasília’s brutalism and Niemeyer’s organic forms, Ávila blends functional design with sculptural aesthetics inspired by astronomical instruments and space exploration. This version contrasts chrome steel and animal leather, embodying the collection’s core concept: the tension between industrial and artisanal, cold and warm, synthetic and organic — a signature approach in contemporary Brazilian design.
